A whistleblower system enables employees and external stakeholders to report abuses, violations of the law, or ethically questionable behavior confidentially and, if desired, anonymously. With the entry into force of the Whistleblower Protection Act (HinSchG) on July 2, 2023, companies with more than 250 employees are required to establish internal reporting points; from December 17, 2023, this requirement also applies to companies with 50 to 249 employees.
An effective whistleblower system not only ensures compliance with legal requirements, but also protects the corporate culture and facilitates the early identification of risks. It strengthens employee trust and protects the company from financial and reputational damage.
